On my journey to continue to know who Brittney Carter is as an artist, I came across this gem that dropped a lil over a year ago by Bishop K.I.D.D. called “Voyage” which she is featured on and as Brittney states on her soundcloud page that this song is “a homage to the greats before us, the music, words and melodies that will forever remain with us.” Voyage takes you into the mind of two artists who show their appreciation for Hip Hop artists before them and they skillfully deliver their gratitude.
Dre Izaya is 17yrs old and hails from Chicago, he has created a plan of dropping songs at the beginning of the week on what he calls #blueSUNDAY. Dre delivers impeccable flows and flawless performances in his verses with the ability to drop layers of knowledge and share the perspective of a teenager with a conscious and superior confidence as an MC. This song “Legit” was one of the recent offerings and is self produced. “Legit” is a display of lyrical ability of a hungry MC with bars that are driven by self awareness, his environment and he lets the world know what he feels, that he is one of the top 5 MCs in Hip Hop. I can definitely see why he feels that way by just listening to these songs from this teenager with this much versatility, content and showcasing his pure love for hip hop as an MC and not following the model of what’s trendy as a rapper in this current climate. Stay tuned and keep Dre Izaya on your mental because I got a great feeling, he’ll be on a major level sooner than later. Dre Izaya definitely gets my co-sign, even though he doesn’t need it from anyone as he states: “… I don’t need no validation, b**** I know I’m Legit … “
Steelo I.B. drops “Lavender” a track produced by Skelly G. and continues to showcase his lyrical prowness layered with gems as usual on his tracks such as lines like:
“… I be reaching for the sun/while I be reaching for the blunt/they want me reaching for the sky/while they reaching for the gun/ol young black man, you ain’t never stood a chance/steady tryin’ to advance/ for the Benjamins and Grants/but my Poppa taught me well/I make a Heaven out of Hell/ I pray I never go to jail … “
Steelo I.B. is an artist to keep an eye out for, if you haven’t been familiar with this MC from St. Croix, Virgin Islands then you can also check out his last project called The Practice which showcases Steelo flowing over industry beats with his own flavor.

Rashon drops a visual to his title track off of his ‘More Than Music’ EP, which is an ode to the lyrics of the names of love songs written by Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Louis Armstrong, Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, and other Jazz greats. I will be adding this song to my playlist of love songs, Rashon does a great job of delivering passion and expressing vulnerability on this track. Currently, he and his band are preparing to tour this summer so find out more about him here:
